About JAKO Project
The JAKO project is a submarine optical fiber cable initiative connecting Fukuoka, Japan, and Busan, South Korea. It has been developed by a consortium consisting of ARTERIA, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Dreamline (South Korea), in response to the increasing international data traffic driven by the rapid expansion of AI and cloud services.
The JAKO cable system is scheduled to commence operation in Q3 2027. By facilitating high-capacity and low-latency telecommunications between Japan and South Korea, the project is expected to significantly enhance digital infrastructure throughout the East Asia region.
Enhance Regional Infrastructure through International Connectivity
As part of the JAKO project, ARTERIA is participating as the landing party on the Japanese side and is responsible for implementing the cable landing in Fukuoka, the designated landing site in Japan.
Following the scheduled commencement of operations in Q3 2027, ARTERIA will provide “DynaEther” – a service offering low-latency, high-quality dedicated lines - to meet customer demands for international connectivity between major data centers in Japan and South Korea. This service will leverage ARTERIA’s own domestic optical fiber network between Fukuoka and Osaka/Tokyo/other major cities, ensuring prompt and reliable delivery.
The JAKO project represents ARTERIA’s first participation in an international consortium with multiple global industry leaders, showcasing a significant milestone in its growth trajectory. It is also a core element of “NEXT2030”, ARTERIA’s new five-year mid-term management plan beginning in FY2025. ARTERIA is committed to fulfilling diverse customer needs by offering high-quality telecommunication services that seamlessly integrate international and domestic networks.
Moreover, the JAKO project will aid in decentralizing international submarine cable landing sites from the metropolitan areas of Tokyo and Osaka. ARTERIA is dedicated to advancing next-generation telecommunication infrastructure in collaboration with global partners.

*LS Cable & System (South Korea) is responsible for the JAKO system’s design, procurement, and construction.
